FairTradeWorker is a full-stack construction marketplace connecting homeowners with vetted contractors. Homeowners post jobs, contractors bid competitively, and the platform handles payments through QuickBooks Online integration. Built across multiple repos — Next.js frontend, a Java/Spring Boot backend (ftw-svc) with STOMP WebSocket realtime, and a React Native mobile app.
The Challenge
Building a marketplace that handles the full lifecycle — from job posting through bidding, contract signing, milestone-based payments, and dispute resolution — while keeping contractors honest and homeowners protected.
The Solution
Three-tier architecture: homeowner posts job, contractor bids, subcontractor handles specialty work. QuickBooks handles all payment flows natively. ConstructionAI powers instant cost estimates so homeowners know what's fair before a single bid comes in.
